The power of hemp

One of my major concerns in today’s world is the presence of dairy everywhere: milk, yoghourt, cheese. Adults and even more so children are enticed to consume dairy for its supposedly health benefits. Somehow our world believes dairy goes with strong bones and general health. But there is nothing more wrong than that. There is no question today that dairy is linked to the development of many illnesses including cancer and osteoporosis. Just google ‘cancer dairy’ and read my previous article on cow milk.
I would like to offer you a real suitable alternative to cow’s milk that will dramatically increase your health. And that is hemp milk.
Hemp milk is made from the seeds of the hemp plant. Unfortunately for you, you will not get high on these seeds! This variety not does contain the THC you find in cannabis.
Hemp milk is so easy to make and tastes quite nice, although you may have to get used to the taste. Take the hemp seeds. Soak them overnight ideally. Blend with more or less water to get a more or less creamy milk. Poor through a sieve and your milk is ready. It takes 2 mins to make and you can refrigerate for up to 3 days.
So what are the benefits of consuming hemp? They are numerous. Two key points I would like to develop: the amino acids (which are the building blocks of proteins)and essential fatty oils in hemp.
There are eight amino acids the human body cannot make and two more the body cannot make in sufficient quantity, therefore they are essential. If you were to consume a diet without any one of these, you would eventually get very sick and die. These essential amino acids, along with eleven others the body can make from them, are chained into proteins and into enzymes that carry out the mechanics of living including antigens, muscle synthesis and much more. And yes hemp seeds contain all 10 of these amino acids! This could be your only source of protein and you would be perfectly healthy.
Hemp seeds are also comprised of a large portion of oil. This oil has the lowest amount of saturated fatty acids at 8%, and the highest amount of the polyunsaturated essential fatty acids. They include the so called essential fatty acids which are Linoleic acid (Omega-6) and Linolenic acid (Omega-3) that cannot be produced by the human body. These essential fatty acids are the most important fatty acids in human nutrition. They are involved in the production of life energy from food. They govern growth, vitality and health of mind.

Salt or no salt?

How often have we heard: ‘ I try not to use salt in my food, my doctor told me so’ ‘ I have high blood pressure, I don’t salt my food anymore’ ‘ I love salt but it’s not good for you’. People are very focused on their salt intake and rightly so but often for the wrong reasons.
